After attending an all canditates forum to discuss the voting system that will be used in the upcoming elections, the issue of website accessibility came up. Many visually impaired individuals don't end up voting just for the simple fact that navigating websites is too difficult. I am proud to announce that votekarl.ca is one of the few councillor candidate websites in Ontario that has an integrated text reader for the visually impaired!
I have to commend our town for the excellent beach bar and live music at the canteen area by the beach. I have visited it several times, and it was packed every time. Who doesn't enjoy sunshine, live music and drinks with a beautiful view of the lake!? With Cobourg's beach becoming more and more popular to visitors, there's a strain on resources; on tax payers. The upkeep of the beach (grooming, dredging, landscaping, garbage collection, life guards, etc.) is expensive. Generating extra revenue for the town's coffers through the beach bar is an excellent idea.

Let's face it - Cobourg has an aging demographic (source). If we are all lucky to live long fulfilling lives, chances are we'll have physical ailments. Be it a limp, loss of vision, dependence on a walker/wheelchair, etc. You can really only fathom the position of being disabled, when you're actually disabled.
